Coaching

Coaching could perhaps be described as a non-clinical form of therapy, with an emphasis on performance enhancement as opposed to targeting psychological maladies. This can come in many forms from life coaching, fitness coaching and executive coaching, among others. It is still a relatively young discipline, but its better variants have been fashioned from long-established principles.

It is important to understand that coaching, unlike ‘dietician’ or ‘psychiatrist’, is not a protected title. Anyone can call themselves a coach, just as anyone can call themselves an actor or a singer. However, to be an accredited coach, especially with a reputable body, requires academic study and experience. All the coaches at the Clear Thinking Clinic have a Cognitive Behavioural background, the same skills are applicable to coaching. So even though the coaching is a fledgeling discipline, its roots are ancient and venerable.
