Hewa read Biomedical Science at Imperial College London.  She has a Masters degree in Applied Neuroscience from King's College London, with Distinction. 

 

During her MSc, Hewa was recipient of the KCL 'Dean's Award for Outstanding Academic Performance' in the areas of Pharmacotherapies in Mental Health and Child & Adolescent Mental Health.

​

Hewa is driven by a deep-seated curiosity aboout human nature and a strong desire to help others.  She draws on her experiences as a scientific Research Assistant at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience and as an Academic Mentor to disadvantaged but gifted students.

​

Her Masters degree dissertation focused on the relationship between psychosocial stress and inflammation, allowing her to explore her interest in the biological underpinnings of psychological wellbeing.  She looked in to the intersection between psychology/ neuroimaging and immunology. 

 

Hewa is working to extrapolate contemporary neuroscientific research findings to the clinic and workplace.

​

Hewa was awarded the Caroline Gilbey Scholarship to train in Evidence-based Psychological Therapies at the University of Reading.

​

Hewa has a special interest in young adult mental health.

​
